Prime Minister Hands Over Appointment Letters to Three Individuals with Special Needs

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman personally handed over appointment letters to three individuals as part of an initiative to empower people with special needs through employment, enabling them to become self-reliant.

He handed them the appointment letters on Thursday (July 30) morning as he entered his office at the Cabinet Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary, Zulfiqar Hasan Shiplu, confirmed this information.

The government stated that the main objective of this initiative is to integrate individuals with special needs into the mainstream of society and enable them to become self-reliant through employment.

The appointees are Ayesha Akter from Saghata Upazila of Gaibandha, Nila Khatun from Kamarkhanda Upazila of Sirajganj, and Md. Hasmat Ali from Narail Sadar Upazila.

All three expressed immense joy upon receiving their appointment letters directly from the Prime Minister. In their words, this is not just a job, but the beginning of a new career and new dreams.

Among the appointees, Nila Khatun has been without both hands since birth. She completed her master’s degree by writing with her feet. She has been appointed as a teacher at the National Foundation for the Development of the Disabled in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Ayesha Akter also lacks both hands. She completed her master’s degree by writing with her feet. She received the appointment letter from the Prime Minister with her mouth. She has been appointed as a Class Supervisor at Biam Laboratory School and College in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, Md. Hasmat Ali, who is visually impaired, has been appointed to the post of Union Social Worker under the Department of Social Services.

Present at the appointment letter handover ceremony were Professor Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs; Farzana Sharmin Putul, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs; Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf, Secretary of Social Welfare; Md. Tariqul Alam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Protibandhi Unnayan Foundation; and Shah Mohammad Mahbub, Director General of the Department of Social Services.
